So are you lot on to your second or third Christmas dinner yet? Need to say thank you to those family members who have slaved away for hours to cook that perfectly stuffed Turkey, roast those potatoes and sizzle those sprouts? Then Tesco has the perfect thank you gift, which should put a smile on everyone’s faces in time for 2014.

The supermarket giant has launched  the #Big Thank You campaign, providing fun ways to say thank you for the little things that matter to you at Christmas, using short songs.  (The Big Thank You videos can be watched and shared here.)

They’ve already had a whopping 200,000 views and shares between them and its not hard to see why… here’s one of our favourites, its the Instagram thank you…

Thank you’s are a changing and look set to go even more digital in 2014, so…

Tesco’s jumped on the band wagon, and decided to join the social media fun by  providing a series of short YouTube videos for a fun way to share a thank you through entertaining songs.

With videos featuring a singing trio whose songs cover everything from Christmas socks to sprouts and cooking the dinner, the campaign has been running from Christmas day. There are 15 short clips which can be emailed, tweeted or posted to family and friends.

But what about tradition we hear you say…

It’s a traditional part of Christmas day to call friends and family and to say thanks for the gifts received, but this year we did it online more than ever. With over 90% of 16-24 year olds and 74% 25-44 years olds on social media, it’s clear that many of us will be spreading the Christmas cheer online.

Tesco has been emailing their millions of Clubcard customers the Big Thank You videos to offer their singing services, as well as sharing them through Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and YouTube.Screen Shot 2013-12-29 at 22.45.28

This is all young people nonsense no?

And it’s not just youngsters who’ll be on social media during this festive period either, as 19% of 65-74 year olds are also online tweeting and posting. Tesco expect to see grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles all sharing the Big Thank You videos with relatives. And, with record numbers of us expecting to unwrap tablets – 60% of us have one our wish list** there will be a tuneful way to say thank you with your new gift.

Get sharing and Sing a song of Thank You’s! Thanks to Tesco!

The Big Thank You videos can be watched and shared here.

Have a happy and safe New Years everyone and bring on 2014!! x

Did you vote for this Christian Grey? #fiftyshadesofgrey #film #movie #casting

Screen Shot 2013-09-03 at 08.51.09

So the news is out. E.L. James has found her eagerly anticipated leads in the film adaptation of the most talked about book of last year Fifty Shades of Grey. But who has the coveted role and who lost out?

The Winners!

Introducing Charlie Hunnam as the man of all female fantasies 2012. Is he what you imagined? Who is this man and where did he come from? Well, if any of you saw Pacific Rim this summer, the opening scene will show the Christian Grey potential as Hunnam jumps out of his bunk bed with his rippling six pack on show! If you’re fans of the TV show Sons of Anarchy you will have seen him on there, and if you cast your minds back to British TV he was the young naïve Nathan in Queer as Folk and even further back he started his career in Byker Grove. Now funnily enough we here at Snoochie Boochies HQ were discussing last month how its about time that Charlie Hunnam broke the US movie scene and that Pacific Rim was a good step forward for him, so maybe, just maybe playing this iconic character could seal his status as Hollywood A-List?Screen Shot 2013-09-03 at 08.46.58

Anastasia Steele was always more up for debate… there were some big front runners in this game (see below) but the coveted role has gone to none other than Dakota Johnson (who?!). Confirming our theory that no Hollywood heavyweights wanted to touch the role with a barge pole for fear that it would ruin their reputation, producers probably needed to search for a nobody (ahem, sorry, we mean an “up and coming” actress.) Johnson is the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffiths and has had a few miniscule bit parts in The Social Network (seriously blink and you’ll miss her). But as of yesterday afternoons announcement her name has quickly become the most spoken about name on the Twittersphere.

The Losers

For the past year there have been tweets, Facebook groups, YouTube montages all dedicated by the fans to who they think would be the perfect people for the parts. It bordered on the obsessive but the front runners for Christian Grey were without a doubt: Alexander Skarsgard and Ian Sommerholder.Screen Shot 2013-09-03 at 08.47.20

In terms of Miss Steele, Alexis Bledel was really one of the top names thrown into the hat, but also British born Felicity Jones and Imogen Poots – so really anyone with brown hair and blue eyes!Screen Shot 2013-09-03 at 08.47.59

The Book

So what is all the fuss about? Well, like Twilight and The Hunger Games, this film will be driven by its fans first and foremost. Instead of seeing caged tweens at the UK premiere for the film, we may see a total shift in audience to the more “mummyporn” category hanging off the railings. Mothers in their mid to late thirties who found escapism in the book may be booking their tickets as of now to see how their wildest fantasies portray on film. And seeing as its not the best written book in the world, lets hope the film is just as readable and with slightly less references to ones ‘inner goddess.’

Need a guide to Bee-auty? Then @beeconomics_org can help you! #beauty #bees #crowdfunding

As you may have seen from their first post, Heather and Dom Ridout have upped sticks and swapped their London lives for a brand new venture in Brazil with a few bees called Beeconomics! Firstly they told us why they’re going, and now they’ve kindly written a fantastic piece on the benefits of bees and beauty!

They’ve started up Beeconomics, and if you like what you read from their very first post for us, then good news! There’ll be more updates in the coming weeks! Also, if you feel inclined to support the cause, you can find out all you can follow them on Facebook andTwitter

Most importantly, they’ve just launched a crowd funding campaign called Show me the Honey! to help their cause, so if you want to support it, then click here!

Back to the Beauty bit!

Honey has incredible skin and hair care properties. It has been revered throughout history for this purpose – the Egyptians used it in mummification (the ultimate anti-ager!), Cleopatra bathed in it, the Romans used it on battle wounds, whilst the wife of the Roman Emperor Nero, Poppea, formulated a honey based moisturiser. Queen Anne of England used it to condition her hair and Madame du Barry (famous for her beauty and for being Louis XV’s final mistress) may have been the first to make a homemade honey face-mask, a practice continued by modern starlets such as Scarlett Johansson who attributes her healthy glow to a manuka mask (just honey, nothing added).

Screen Shot 2013-06-08 at 12.02.44

This remarkable substance is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It soothes and moisturises and is a humectant meaning that it draws moisture towards it and seals it onto the skin, prolonging its moisturising effect. It contains phytochemicals which make it antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory. It is also self preserving (due to its anti-microbial constituents, low PH, moisture content and water activity) as famously illustrated by archeologists who found 2,000 year-old jars of honey in Egyptian tombs!

Screen Shot 2013-06-08 at 12.01.53

Honey can be applied neat to the skin or combined with other complementary ingredients. We’re sure you will be keen to get some on your skin – so here are some ideas for a homemade face mask using honey and things you might find in the fridge:

* Make a simple Cleopatra-esque mask using plain yogurt/cream (we find milk doesn’t stay on so well!) and honey to moisturise and soothe (recommended for sensitive skin)

* Mix honey, oats (best if ground first to avoid clumpiness) and a little lemon/lime (rich in AHAs and vitamin C) to moisturise and exfoliate

* Blend some enzyme-rich papaya (also contains vitamin A) and honey together to brighten and banish dead skin cells without scrubbing

TAHDAAAHHH!!!! You’ll be looking like a goddess in no time!

Happy Bee-autifying!!

Fancy a bit of fun, quirky pub atmosphere? Try @therailwaysw16 #pubreview #food #drink

Hidden amongst the change and hustle and bustle of busy Streatham is a little gem of a pub which has a quiet yet contemporary feel to it. The Railway is a stones throw from Streatham Common Station and well worth a visit. The area in which the pub is based sits a world away from the main road by the Common itself. It hosts the beginnings of a new lease of life within the area with quirky shops, mini delis and feels like this area is quickly evolving into a sought after area like a its neighbour Balham.

Screen shot 2013-04-14 at 09.33.14Screen shot 2013-04-14 at 09.32.49

The Railway pub itself boasts so much more than ales and orange juices. It has a beautiful beer garden just waiting for Summer to fully kick in, and you wont be disappointed by the Sunday lunch offering. But going above and beyond just the traditional pub feel, it also plays host to either a farmers market or craft fair every Saturday (and so much more!). We popped in to the pub yesterday and were greeted with smiley, happy staff, and super quick service. So if you fancy a pint, a spot of lunch or a nice place to sit with your lap top and do some work, we’d highly recommend this place!

You can find the Railway Pub at 2 Greyhound Lane, Streatham Common, SW16 5SD

Don’t forget to follow them on Twitter and Facebook

Happy pubbing people!
